Safe Travel During the Pandemic

The PTO Nomad

The official end of summer is looming and we have been in our homes with the same routine, same scenery, and the same people for 6 months. So, I completely understand why you are thinking of a way to escape your norm and take a trip. Although travel right now isn’t really encouraged, a road trip planned with current safety protocol in mind can be done.

Here are my tips:

Disinfect your Entire Hotel Room Upon Arrival. As soon as you get to your room sanitize and leave your suitcases, shoes and bags at the door. Then spray and wipe your room surfaces, bed, and tub down with disinfectant. * Bringing your own sheets are a plus too.

Designate an Area Near Door for Sanitizing Items and Removing Shoes. Find a place near the door to put items you used when out and about. I bring small shoe organizerd for our masks keys, shoes, phones, etc. This reminds us they need to be sanitized and keeps outside germs out of our clean room.

Book Resorts with Private Beaches/Amenities. Now is the time to splurge a little more on those more private and luxurious resorts. They normally have smaller crowds, private amenities, private activities, and private beaches. In my experience I find these resorts have practiced high standards of sanitization and cleanliness prior to the pandemic, so having a safe, clean property. Make sure the resort has safety protocols (masks, sanotizer stations, constant sanitization of common areas, etc.) in place before booking.

Plan Outdoor Activities and Visit Outdoor Attractions. It’s best to avoid over crowded and/or indoor activities and attractions.

Only Eat at Restaurants with Safety/Mask Protocols, Takeout, and Spacious Patios.
