With life as we know it being so different many of you are wondering how travel will look like in the near future? Experts tell us that traveling post coronavirus will never be the same. Starting at the Airport, travelers will have to arrive at least 4 hours early.
You should expect strict social distancing measures, temperature checks, and no carryons allowed. Masks will be required and even gloves at some locations. Many countries will require tourists to take a mandatory 14-day quarantine in their hotel or wherever they are staying once they touch down, cutting down the appeal of short trips for a while. Make sure you check each country’s embassy site for the most updated information concerning travel.
St. Lucia is one of the first countries to reopen its borders to Americans. Their Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee shared a phased plan last week for reopening to tourists in June 4. Phase One will only accept visitors from the US from June 4 through July 31. All flights must arrive at Hewanorra International Airport and present a certified proof of a negative COVID-19 test dated within 48 hours of your flight’s departure.
[So not only will you need that pre vacay wax but a foot long cotton swab in your nose as well]
Face masks, temp checks, and social distancing are required at the airport and at hotels, and quarantine areas are on-site for symptomatic guests. Hotels will also take your temperature during meal times
[Imagine how awkward that can potentially be: waiter I would like the filet mignon, No problem just open your mouth and say ahh]
If all goes well a Phase 2 will begin August first. You can view a detailed graphic of their process on Theptonomad.com
The US has placed travel restrictions on foreign nationals who have been to Brazil in the last 14 days. The South American nation recently became the world’s second major hotspot for coronavirus cases
[That’s behind the United States.]
A White House spokeswoman said the restrictions would help ensure new cases are not brought into the US.
Have you heard of Travel bubbles?
Nope that’s not it…(Graphic of tourist in bubbles)
Countries with low coronavirus tolls like Greece, Cyprus, and Israel will open their borders to each other, allowing locals to travel freely between the two or three without a 14-day quarantine. Check out a list of other travel bubbles on my website
If private cabana life is your type of beach fun, you are in luck. A similar setup of private or grid beach plots may be the move from now on to promote social distancing. A small town near Valencia, Spain takes things even further with scheduled morning or afternoon time slots, that beachgoers can book on a mobile app. Only 5,000 visitors are allowed a day.
Speaking of fun in the sun. Some U.S theme parks are beginning a slow reopen process. Universal Studios Orlando, Islands of Adventures, and Volcano Bay are set to reopen June fifth with limited attendance and strict social distancing methods. Disney Springs, Disney’s outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, opened this past week as well. Guests are required to wear masks and go through temperature checks before entering. Walt Disney World and SeaWorld are set to present reopening plans to authorities next week. Keep an eye on my website and social media outlets for updates.
