Remembering A Hero: John Lewis

The PTO Nomad

A few years ago, I had the opportunity of a lifetime. ⠀

I received the privilege of getting a private tour of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights with the legendary and revolutionary civil rights icon John Lewis. He shared inside accounts and little known facts about exhibits in the museum. He talked me through the interactive exhibits, and painted the picture of a group of young, black people from all walks of life, uniting and using their gifts to make this world a better place for everyone. Walking, breathing history. ⠀

John Lewis has been at the forefront of my scope of politics most of my life, from visiting my schools when I was girl and when we would cross paths in my adult life. And EVERYTIME I can feel that flame that burns in him for change and I leave the experience inspired. You fought so hard for us Cong. and Mr. Lewis. You are a force that will forever blow against the winds of change.

Thank you, Sir. We won’t let you down. I won’t let you down. ⠀
