Ultimate Baton Rouge Girls Trip Itinerary

Hey, girlies! Grab your bags because we’re heading to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the ultimate girls’ trip weekend! This Baton Rouge itinerary’s got everything from chill vibes to wild nights, to some of the best women-owned and black-owned businesses in Baton Rouge!

Although it’s mostly known as the home of my beloved LSU (Geaux Tigers) teams, Baton Rouge is a great place to experience great Cajun food, culture, history, and all the fun of the Big City but in a smaller more chill town. A long weekend in Baton Rouge is a great option for solo travelers, couples, and especially groups. I partnered with Visit Baton Rouge to build out the ultimate itinerary for your next girls’ trip to see the best of the “Red Stick” city!

FRIDAY

On the first night of our Baton Rouge girls’ trip, we’re checking into the chic and charming Marriott Baton Rouge Hotel. Check out our suite in the video, below!

We are staying in the penthouse suites so we have plenty of room to laugh, gossip, have our “ki-ki” giggle fests, and get ready for the adventures I have planned for us in this Baton Rouge travel guide.

After checking in and getting settled, it’s time to head out and dive into the local flavors of Baton Rouge!
The first stop is Roul’s Deli. Founded in 1999, Roul’s Deli is family-owned and has a deep belief in serving fresh or as their founder’s catchphrase, “Juicy Juicy” food.

They are known for their burgers, po’boys, and bucket list eggrolls. And that’s why we are here, to grab their popular Crawfish Eggrolls. These sell out nightly so hopefully they have some left. These egg rolls are so rich and super cheesy. So if you are like me, and you are lactose intolerant but willing to risk it all for bucket list foods, this should be one of them. Just bring your Lactaid!

In Louisiana, crawfish isn’t just food; it’s a culture! And you will see them on countless menus all over the city, plated in creative and delicious ways.

Next, we are heading to DIY Disco for our tipsy craft session. But this isn’t your standard paint a skyline while drinking wine class. No, this women-owned attraction has happy hour drinks and craft specials and gives you a choice of over 20 craft projects based on your skill level.

And the craft projects are so unique, with DIY yarn art, neon signs, beer caddies, jewelry, and even woodworking. This activity is truly a unique Baton Rouge experience.

After making our masterpieces, we can grab some more comfort from the OG Raising Cane’s location or head to Black-owned KOK Wings!

Saturday Morning

Wake up, beauties! We’re kicking off the day with Beignets, breakfast, and caffeine( or bubbly depending on the vibes) at The Vintage Baton Rouge. Their cafe has the aesthetics and so many good foodie finds, like their fancy beignet flavors like king cake, Nutella, and of course the essential powdered sugar ones, girl.

After carb loading it’s time to work off our breakfast- at the spa of course. You really thought we were going to work out? Not on this trip, indulging and treating ourselves is the intention for this Girls’ Trip. So, get your purse we are going to the Emporium for treatments and massages.

After the spa, we are hitting up the boutiques for some retail therapy. We have to go Black owned jewelry store Get Signatured for custom pieces to commemorate our trip together.

Now we need something cute to wear tonight. Wanderlust by Abby and Rodeo Boutique have us covered!

And for that one friend in our group who always forgets her hair care products( I’m that friend) we are going to Black-owned Kay’s Beauty Supply to refill our edge control void.

For lunch, we’re heading to Phil’s Oyster Bar for their huge and supremely fresh Oysters. I suggest we get the Chargrilled and Raw oysters to share. I always order Catfish Janine, the classic fried catfish, and crawfish etoufee on rice but there are so many great options, plus some great Mocktails if we want to pace ourselves.

We’ll then immerse ourselves in the cultural attractions of Baton Rouge by exploring Black culture and history at the Baton Rouge African American Museum.

Saturday Night

We will then head to Cecelia’s Creole Bistro for dinner. By the way, the skillet cornbread is next level!

Don’t get too full, friend! We are going out to experience a little of the Baton Rouge nightlife! No worries it will still be the perfect mix of bougie and fun, so hop up and get cute, we are heading downtown to The Main Lobby Lounge for some drinks, dancing, and rooftop vibes.

Sunday Morning

After sleeping we are going to head to Jubans Jazz Brunch. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food is a perfect landing pad of comfort food for a post-night-out recovery.

I’m ordering the cinnamon rolls, the boudin dip, and the Champagne Bar for the table. I suggest their take on a mojito Mr. Blue Sky, the Ring of Fire (spicy jalapeño margarita), or the Tupelo Honey as drink options as well. As for entrees if you are adventurous try the Hallelujah Crab and Quail & Waffles. Don’t worry, there are plenty of standard breakfast choices that look familiar for the traditional brunch girlies.

Let’s take our post-brunch tipsy giggle fest to the River Room to create our own little mini-day party.

And no trip to Baton Rouge is complete without a visit to Tony’s Seafood for boiled crawfish and Boudin. This seafood market is huge and the perfect place to see how the locals get their seafood. We’ll enjoy our feast at the Riverfront Park, soaking in the vibes and views before heading back to our hotel to pack, gossip, and plan our next adventure.

Would you skip NOLA and visit Baton Rouge instead?
